Should I put I volunteered at a elementary school for 5 years, on my resume? That's why I have a 5yr gap

You dont have to say volunteer.

I suggest make a title for what you did.

Elementary School Aide (dates) School Name,

As long as you have someone from the school back up that you worked there(though volunteered) this will suffice.

Dont say I VOLUNTEERED;

Sarah Palin was head of the PTA before she became Mayor of her town.
She did not state on her resume: volunteered for PTA...

No that is work, though it is unpaid work, it is work.
