As has been pointed out, it is their church's interpretation of particular Bible verses.

However, I would just like to offer this up. If we want to be truly Biblical, we would all, men and women both, wear long loose garments (not pants, or skirts with a separate blouse/top or dresses or shorts or kilts or even winter coats), wear only sandals (not socks and shoes, or winter boots, obviously skiing, football, soccer and even bowling would not be accceptable pasttimes) and men would not shave their beards. We would not shower or bathe, or use flush toilets, or send our children to secular schools, or use electricity to light our houses (heaven knows what we would use to power our computers.) We would buy animals to be sacrificed in the temple on specified occcasions such as the birth of a child.

If we want to be honest, we would accept some relativism in interpreting Bible verses because what is 'conservative' is very much tied to what is 'traditional' in the society and part of the world where we live. As I have said in a comment on another answer, I have trouble with the simplistic interpretation of the verse 'long hair is the glory of a woman' - it is a sign of pride, and therefore can be a sin, to seek glory in any form.

If the Apostolic Pentecostal congregations want to interpret the Bible that way, fine. But some of us beg to differ.

    • Wow. I love God. I love God so much, that I think he's not sitting up there mad that I got a haircut, or wore a pair of shorts outside to play with my kids.

    • Study this scripture, 1 Cor. 11:16 but if any seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of Christ. This scripture speaks more than just the headcovering issue but also concerning any issue as far as obedience is concerned. A true believer in God's Kingdom will not fight God's Word, When people fight truth they want to justify themselves as I was saying a Holy Ghost, sanctified believer will give up all to follow Jesus. Why do people get mad because they must give up something that damns the soul

    • Nothing in the Bible is of private interpretation. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. Once a abomination, always an abomination. For I am the Lord, I change not. We're not the ones not accepting the Holy Sacrifice. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord! The word "trinity" can not be found. The concept of trinity isn't even remotely implied. Baptism must be administered in the All-Powerful Name of the LORD Jesus. If you say otherwise, then every one that was so-called added to the church, including the Apostles and Disciples of Jesus and John were not "saved". Then, if that's the case, we have no where in the Bible that records the salvation of a sinner. Jesus IS coming back soon; but coming for a Born-Again Church that hath made herself ready. NOTICE: Rev 19:7 says made herself ready! So, apparently we do have to do something. We must strive for that blessed hope. We must try our best. We can't just sit back and expect God to just zap us out of here. I feel I must remind you that the raptured Church will be judged by their works! I'M READY! ARE YOU?! Finally, I leave you with this specific Scripture: Jeremiah 6:16-17
Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. Sounds like today? Nobody listens though!

    • There should not be apastolic girls wearing any tight clothing. In response to the first comment, we no longer have to give sacrificial animals because Jesus Christ died to conquer Hell and the grave and He was the sacrifice for our sins. We can conmmunicate with God now, without going to an appointed man of God.
Also, God instructs women to have a covering, which is her hair, when she prays or she is dishonoring her head, which is her husband/pastor and in turn God. It is her glory, not her pride. Also, her hair is her power with the angels according the same scripture you referred to. 1 Corinthians 1-12

    • It's truely sad to read that you try and make yourself sound so specifically correct. Attend an Apostolic gathering, and see for yourself what it feels like. To be seperate from the world is an honor. You don't feel the holy spirit when you walk into any other "Christian" sanctuary.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32.
      -p.s: read the Bible.

    • @aaaamoney...You know, I totally respect everyone's beliefs and opinions about everything, especially religion. But for you to say that I can't feel the Holy Spirit when I walk into my "Christian" sanctuary is totally offensive. I have attended an apostolic gathering and quite honestly, I didn't feel anything there at all except a lot of emotionalism. But to each their own. The truth is, in the end, it's not about our religion, our denomination, our church or our "Christian" sanctuaries....it's about our own relationship with Christ.

    • If it were so important for women to wear desses don't. You think God would have put it in the ten commandments and remember being carnal is hating and that's exactly what you do when you caballero someone a backslider just BC they don't follow your religious ways and I say religious BC God has called us to be set apart by our actions bit he doesn't harp on women wearing dresses or else your going to he'll loll Jesus Christ died and rose again to set us free stop making a religion out of something unimportant and leading pol astray. And yes your religion is False
