Is excommunication/disfellowshipment always permanent? Could standing in the Church or ability to enter the temple be reinstated?

    Actually, it depends on the sin that led to this action. there are a few things that a person can do to get themselves permanently excommunicated from the church. One of these is to embezzle church funds. Another is to undergo a sex change operation.
