Whereas Miley Cyrus is a sensation to middle-schoolers today, I wondered for a little bit who the sensation was to middle-schoolers when I was in middle school, and it was LeAnn Rimes!

LeAnn Rimes has great ability, and if I remember correctly, was discovered for her rendition of "Blue" which was written for Patsy Cline, but never recorded by her. Because of her choice in songs and style, she appeals to a wide range of people, including an older audience. An older audience is less fickle in their likes and has money to spend.
Miley Cyrus is famous because of her father and only appeals to a certain age group ... an age group that will quickly outgrow her. Unless she changes, she will fade away like New Kids On The Block and others with limited appeal.
