As an Adult (Electrical Engineer) our Electricians and Myself are required to
wear flame retardant clothes. The biggest problem is lack of moisture absorption.
We also have problems with body heat being properly dissipated. The clothes are "itchy".

If you wash most flame retardant clothes in water or dry in temperatures greater than 160 deg F you will break down the retardant. This breakdown obviously takes away the safety of the clothes.

Some cloths are treated with chemicals in my opinion they are are the most irritating to wear. Other fibers are designed to resist flame during the fiber manufacturing.

If you want to see cool adult flame resistant clothing see.

google arc flash uniform videos you will see why we need the adult versions.
