Help answer this question below.

Is excommunication/disfellowshipment always permanent? Could standing in the Church or ability to enter the temple be reinstated?

    Neither of them is permanent.

    If a person fully repents (including forsaking the behaviour), s/he will be able to re-enter into full fellowship. I know one individual who was excommunicated and after re-admittance into the church, served on the stake high council and as a member of his ward's bishopric.
