How did people start using ellipses (...) in their emails, instead of dashes or semicolons or periods like they did until a few years ago?

    Maybe it's because we aren't taught to do the dashes in schools these days.

    You're exaggerating on the now written as, and even then it depends on the individual typing that way.

    Then again, I would type that sentence as: "Hi, how are you? I'm fine. It would be a great day if it were snowing... just kidding."

    I feel as if people type emails because it is how they would actually be speaking to that person if they were face to face.

    Just a thought.
