As a matter-of-fact, back in the 1930's, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs had Dopey as one of the dwarfs. He acted all stupid & silly; however, there was never any indication of drugs. He was just a bit slow & dumb. This explains why those earlier generations would call someone who was foolish, or silly, or stupid, as 'being dopey', hence, a 'dope'. Later on, it would be used to describe the 'dopers' of the sixties and ever since.
How can I just say no without hurting the drug pushers feelings?
