It is funny you should ask this because about 6 or 7 years back I was asking this same question about my husband. Two years ago, we realized that dear hubby was an alcoholic. We took the appropriate treatment. Now two years sober most of the random off the wall behavior is not gone but better, it is amazing way an alcohol dependent brain works. I thank God for the power of AA and the people in those rooms.

A doctor (She was not a behavior problem at all) told my daughter she had ADD in the end it was depression and separation anxiety. We had seen consolers for the depression and anxiety. She is now thinking more clearly and is focused in school. The doctor where to fast to want to label her with ADD, and stick her on Ritalin or Statara. I am glad I did not put her on the medication, as it was not ADD. Many things may look like they are ADD or ADHD but are not

I have found in the 16 years I have been driving a school bus that ADD or ADHD 98 percent of the time is a parent or parents that have allowed the child to behave badly. For some reason when children are, small bad behavior was cute. They never take the time to correct the child. When that this child is 5, 6, 7 years old he or she all of a sudden is out of control they are taken to the doctor and labeled with ADD. I feel we get what we raise and if we are not going to take the time from birth to 5 or 6 years of age then you need to deal with what you have created. For some reason we seem to ignore our children by placing them in front of a computer or television allowing them to watch inappropriate things such as MTV, the family guy or south park. You can really see what parents spend time with their children and which ones do not by the way, a child acts and the parents act when you discuss bad behavior on a bus. I am not discounting ADD or ADHA as I have driven preschool handicapped children and special needs children. They are all a joy. I just think too many doctors and too many parents are using this as a quick fix. Rather than dealing with the problem at hand.

    • ADHD is a brain disorder. It's genetic, not created by BAD PARENTING. You should read a damn book about the subject.
