My son is 11 and did not receive his Catholic first communion 3 years ago. Is there a way he can do this now (without going to a class for a year with 3rd graders?)

This does not really have to do with the question but I also started my child out in a catholic church and got her baptized when she was a baby. A year or to later I went to a Baptist church and learned that in order to get to heaven you must trust Christ as your personal saviour. This is what the bible does say if you read it. I thought that I should do all these things that the Catholic church told me to do in order to get to heaven but the bible says that it is free. we as people want to work for salvation but if I gave you a gift what would you do? You would just take it. It would be silly for you to give me money for it right? It was a gift and I wanted to GIVE it to you. That is what Jesus wants us to do. The catholic church teaches that in order to get to Jesus you have to pray to Mary but in the bible Mary herself said "His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
(John 2:5) Jesus is God and He loves you and offers to you a gift of eternal life if you would just take it. There is no more to do but ask him to save you and forgive you of your sins. The moment you do this is the moment you are born again and become a child of God. My daughter was baptized as a baby but she did not understand. She is now 7 and last summer she asked Christ to be her personal Savior and asked Him into her heart. She got saved! It is simple, It is free, it was already paid for by Jesus own blood on the cross. What we deserved is what He took. He died in our place so that we would have a way to get to Him.That way is:
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    (Ephesians 2:8)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
***I am not trying to be mean but I am only reading the bible, Gods word. Study the bible and see yourself what God says , You dont have to take a priests word or my word for it but search the scriptures and see yourself that Salvation is not meant to be worked for but is offered to us for free. We cannot pay to get into heaven. If we could then Christ had no reason to die. Nowhere in the bible does it say that. Again, "For by grace ye are saved through faith: and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the GIFT of God ' Ephesians 2:8

    • Don't worry about free4life79, MichaelG. He just can't let anyone worship God in peace. He seems to feel a need to criticize any religion that does not agree with his. He and I have been over this time and time again. He just does not want to acknowledge those parts of the Bible that talk about the importance of works to our salvation.

    • I am a she! and will not argue with you! I only state what God says in His word"the bible" not the book of Mormons. I am not on here to fight like I have said to you many times already. It is pointless and unfruitful.

    • My apologies for getting your sex wrong. However, I was also merely using correct English for when the sex of a person is not know.

I am also not trying to start a fight. You and I have pretty well beat this topic to death. I was just pointing out to Michael that you can't seem to help but tear down religions with which you disagree. This discussion really has little to do with my religion. It has to do with the fact that you posted an answer that really had nothing to do with the question and does little more than attack another branch of Christianity, a branch of Christianity that happens to disagree with your interpretation of the Bible. They came to the same conclusions that my religion did about the relationship between works and faith as mine strictly from study of the Bible, yet you can't accept that. So, rather than simply letting it go, you have to post an irrelevant answer attacking yet another faith.

    • All I'm going to say about that rant is Luke 9:5

    • That is a verse that we, in my Church, take very seriously. It is something to only be done in the absolute worst of cases. I would not dream of using it for a mere disagreement over doctrine. As I have written several times. We respect the right of everyone to believe as they wish. You might also note that my "rant" as you seem to call it is not aimed at here beliefs. It is aimed at her refusal to let others believe as they wish. All I am asking of her and everyone else is respect for the right of others to follow the dictates of their own conscience.
