I don't know about that... but what happens if he is right? I'm not sure there's any 'cooked science' just a few over zealous scientists at, for example, the University of East Anglia. Know where that is? When you find out, just wonder how the story has travelled a trillion times around the world...Maybe it's because anyone who is threatened by climate change wants to believe it isn't happening. The scientists at East Anglia were stupid to do what they did. But that doesn't make the science cooked.

    • Nothing happens if he is right. In spite of what us arrogant humans would like to believe, we really have very little effect on the earth and its climate. The earth was not created nor was it ever intended to last for forever, thus the resources of the earth were never meant to be limitless. God created the earth with exactly the right amount of resources to last exactly as long as He intended the earth to be here. Global warming is simply another way for the US government to try and circumvent the Constitution and help usher in the one world government that will ultimately lead to the destruction of the earth.

    • There are some very small countries currently making a lot of noise in Copenahgen - it's not just the US govenrment that is concerned. Further, I haven't seen any proof for the existence of a god, but I see quite a bit of proof pointing to the existence of climate change.

    • Yeah, the climate is changing. It is getting colder not warmer.

You can deny the existence of God if you want. I am not going to argue that with you or anyone else on this page. But there is abundant evidence for the existence of God if you would just look around you with open eyes.

    • These scientists did in fact cook the science. It says so in their emails.

    • Yes, I agree, the scientists at East Anglia University cooked their research. But, does anyone outside of the UK know where East Anglia University is? Probably very few - but everyone has heard about this minor university's indiscretions. Why have they heard? Because those in denial about climate change are desperate to point to some evidence, however flimsy, that one or two scientists, out of tens of thousands, are not giving us reliable research. Therefore this pathetic misdememanour gets magnified way beyond its significance compared to the important issue. Which is climate change is real, it's man made, and carbon emissions need to be checked. Now.

    • This university no one has heard of has the largest climate data set on the planet, communicates with climate scientists all over the world and contributed to the climate models used by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's 2007 report.
      .
They are heavy hitters and the fact that people haven't heard of them says more about blindly trusting scientists to pursue science (instead of writing fiction) - than it does about the influence of East Anglia University.
      .
The scientists in question should be on trial for fraud. The missing data - such a notion should shock but somehow doesn't - should be either rediscovered or re-computed.
      .
This is a scandal, regardless of your attempts to minimize it with words like 'indiscretions', 'magnified', and 'misdemeanor'.
      .
Whether climate change is anthropogenic remains to be seen. The data is not wholly convincing.
      .
Least convincing of all is the 'needs to be checked. Now' part.

    • This is not some cheesy asteroid-on-collision-course-to-destroy-the-Earth-in-seventy-two-hours movie. This is something that happens over a long time - if it is indeed really happening. The phony emergency treatment is not supported by anything at all.
      .
And if we're wrong, there is reason to believe that we are, and what we are experiencing is what the planet has experienced since the beginning of time, huge fluctuations and changes caused by a system more complex than we understand, and if we pass the laws and make the treaties proposed, we will cripple economies all over the world.
      .
The irony is that the wealth produced by oil is the very wealth we use to find new technologies.

    • Are you saying this is all a conspiracy, or just that everyone is misguided, or just plain wrong? And if you think they're wrong, why do you think that? George Soros, multibillionaire investor, a man whose wealth is threaded throughout economies across the world, a man who can only lose if what you say is true, said this just today: "If the choice is between cooking alive and wasting money unnecessarily I would rather waste some money, because long before we cook we are going to kill each other if we don't deal with climate change." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8405577.stm

    • Ah, the famous climatologist George Soros. I had no idea that the climate was going to make us kill each other but if Soros says it it must be true. I suppose we'd all better start killing each other now, and save time?
      .
I am not saying there is a conspiracy except on the part, as is a matter of record, of several scientists who did indeed create fraudulent data AND deleted the original data. Gone. That's plenty of conspiracy for me since there would have to be quite a few people involved to do the deleting. These guys also actually prevented people from being peer-reviewed. They couldn't have done that alone either. It's not the entire scientific community, obviously. But the significance is in how highly placed these people are and how widely read their invented findings are.

    • And then there's this: The Science Is Settled. How do we know? Because no peer-reviewed science contradicts it. And why is that? Well at least in part it is because they won't let people with science that disagrees with what is 'settled' play any reindeer games. Et voila, the science is settled.
      .
Not unlike the Catholic church's way of settling the whole difficulty of heliocentrism, they just don't allow those who disagree with them speak in an open forum.
      .
      Not very sciency, that.
