When is a player considered "too old" to try out for the Major Leagues?

    If you had to put an age on it, I would guess around 30. It is more ability than age that is the limitaion. If you are 30 and have all the five tools and are exceptional than you could have a shot. If you have never played Pro ball (minor leagues, independent leagues or major leagues) and are out of high school and or college, than your chances to make a minor league squad are slim and none. It is very unlikely to go from a try-out right to the Big Leagues. If they do decide to keep you, you will probably start in "A" ball or Rookie and have to work your way up.
