    What religion are you? If you're Christian and your particular church doesn't have any teaching about it, there are two arguments against it that you can discern as truthful or not.
    There are some people who say that it is a sin b/c of the one passage in Leviticus about how you shouldn't be tattooed or scarified, but there are others who believe that that's one of the prohibitions God put on Jewish people to set them apart from their pagan neighbors, who did such things in their religion. The other, more convincing, argument is that since Paul says that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, that adding to it with tattooes is like spraying graffiti on a church. Others would argue it's decorating God's temple.
    The best answer is to ask God what he thinks about you doing it, and you'll get pointed one way or another eventually.
