Go to a psychiatrist (M.D. or D.O. who has specialized in psychiatry) and tell him about your anxiety, he will evaluate it and if Xanex is the best drug to treat it, he will prescribe it. If not he will prescribe something else. Don't prescribe drugs for yourself. Do not go to a General Practitioner or internist and seek psychotherapeutic drugs or treatment. The available drugs often have serious complications and side effects. Drugs that effect brain chemistry can throw other brain chemicals out of ballance and cause you even worse problems. Always use a board certified psychiatrist for treating such problems.
