You are eating in a nice restaurant when you discover a hair in your food. What do you expect the owner to do?

    If it is clear the hair was IN the food (in other words, came out of their kitchen that way), I would expect an apology, a replacement of the food with some other choice (assuming all the food in that batch would be "contaminate"), and a big discount or a free meal, or possibly a free meal at a later date.

    It the hair (or other foreign object) was not clearly in the food, but in a place the customer could have put it in, I would expect some recognition of the fact by the manager, and some discount, maybe a free drink or free dessert.

    You have to be careful these days not to encourage people to put their own hairs in their food! And yes, there are "serial hair finders" in the restaurant biz.
