Can you record off satellite to anything and not have to be watching or tying up a second tv? I like to record shows and watch something else but i cant because it ties up the tv in the bedroom that my husband is watching.

When changing channels on my Sky+ box, the TV screen flashes yellow just after the channel has appeared. Any ideas if my Sky+ box is on its way out or is it my TV (which is an LCD TV)?

Didn't you know that reading the instructions is the last thing you do? You only do this when all else fails!

You have no instructions for the DVD or VCR player?
by Thriftymaid on November 16th, 2009
No. I've moved a few times since purchasing them some time ago and don't know where they are or even if I still have them. Plus, I the Direct TV guy usually hooks it all up so I don't have to. But, he's not coming for a while, so I wanted to at hook up the DVD player so I could watch some movies. Thus, my dilemma.

You should have a cable that has terminals in each end, red, yellow and white. Hook up to the matching colours on your DVD audio out and video out and the other end to your Tv audio in and video in. Voila!

Dodgy, that works if she has one component to hook up. I can't remember what you do if the TV only has one set of inputs but you have two components.
by Thriftymaid on November 17th, 2009
In that case, you can buy a switch box. They are not expensive. You hook up the two components to the switch box and then another cable from the switch box to the TV. You then flick the switch on the box from A to B depending which component you want to watch.
