Question

Help answer this question below.

Im currently looking into getting a labrador pup, and have been seeing that people are breeding yellow, chocolate, and black labs together. If this is done are the pups still considered pure bred? Will they come out 1 color or mixed? Paper eligible still?

The only real reasons for worrying about "papers" are:
    1) You wish to breed them, yourself.
    2) You wish to lord it over your friends who do NOT have purebred dogs
    3) You wish to show him.

If none of those three are you, then consider going to a shelter. We found a black lab mix there. She mated with another black lab (accidentally... We were told she was fixed, and the other BL came into the neighborbood), and had five puppies. We kept two of them, both black, one with a little white on her chin, short hair, and bright light-blue eyes, reminding us of a big pit-bull, but VERY gentle... And the other has shaggy hair, brown tufts under each ear, and reminds me of a border collie, with the pluming tail.

There are a LOT of dogs in the shelter who could use some good loving, and they are a LOT cheaper than papered dogs.

That said, the puppies will be purebred labs, but not "black", "chocolate", or "yellow". They may be trying to breed the personality of one to the looks of the other, or vice-versa, OR, they're trying to get a new color.
