Help answer this question below.

Would it be reasonable to think that God could create the universe, and everything in it, but would be incapable of causing a book to be written which accurately reflects His thoughts?

    The evangelical position is that the bible is Sufficient in its inspiration. It isn't as clear as you would like simply because God did not will it to be that way.

    • I think you misunderstand the term "inspiration." That is understandable though because the word is used as theological jargon.

      Basically the doctrine of inspiration holds that God inspired the text of the bible (2 Timothy 3:15-17). It also maintains dual human and divine authorship; written by man but the words God intended, as they were carried along by his spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21).

      Therefore, the bible in it's current state is revelation from God. You don't gain revelation or become inspired from reading it, you merely understand and apply old but relevant revelation.
