Well the far right in France never really went away since World War 2, it only went underground.
France collaborated with the Nazis, and even helped deport and exterminate undesirables, such as Jews and Gypsies.
This mentality exists now as it did 60 years ago, all over Europe. So maybe this is just this mentality once again rearing its ugly head.
