The rest of the family including her husband thought she was being silly but she wouldn't listen. In 2000, she was a sadder but wiser woman.

My parents just got out of "the Fellowship of Friends"... this cult about the magical number 44 and how everyone in it was trying to stop being a "machine", because apparently if you die as one, your soul goes to the moon. Their "Teacher" is creepy.
