Because those who neglect the lessons of history are doomed to repeat the same mistakes others have made in the past. This is the only passion in life I have left now; to be a "warner",a voice crying in the wilderness, nobody was listening in 2003 when I was screaming at the top of my lungs that Iraq would become a new Viet Nam. Nor about conventional warfare in Afghanistan, when I advocated a massive strike against al Qaeda strongholds alone. Now I'm a broken old warrior scheduled for a backwater posting for my final tour before retirement. Maybe completion of my PhD and an academic chair at my alma mater will serve as a "bully pulpit", should I decide to live. +5
