What is the most random, pointless fact you know?

    Goslings look at the shadow of birds flying above them to determine whether they're friendly or not, but it's not foolproof: if the shadow is flying right, it appears like a larger goose to them, but if it's flying left, it appears to them as a hawk's shadow (and they react accordingly).

    That's not the most random, pointless fact I know, but it's the most random, pointless fact I can remember at the moment. Got it from a book called Almost Everything There Is To Know (a compendium of factoids and random little things by a guy called Tim Hunkin). Great book, absolutely brilliant toilet/bed reading material.
