+6 [ Hi Vunnessah, sorry for talking about a different question. Can't comment at the other place because the question's been rejected as offensive. Certain things over the past several months in my life I've let bug me and seeing much of the same stuff crop up in AB is tough for me at the moment. I just wanted to acknowledge that I respect your input on a different question of late. I did and still do find that one avatar very offensive; yet, I realize and respect that everyone finds different things offensive. And I know it's me that makes things a very important issue to me. I don't have the energy at the moment to brush some things off easily. And that's my job to do - to not allow others such power to affect me. I'm against censorship in general but if AB decides to have a policy on offensive material I do fail to understand how AB can even begin to approach a procedure.I talk a lot to try to reason things out. I just need to stop though. Sorry for the invasion.] I love salmon. :)

P.S. I thought some time away for AB might help me but I've been back it seems, huh? I've got enough in other parts of my life outside AB that I also must find ways in which to deal, too. I don't know. I talk an awful lot in life when I try to reason things out. Sorry.

I surely hope some of this made sense. I reread it all and it just seems argumentative on my part.I wasn't trying to argue, my friend. If I came across that way, it was not intended. I was trying to say I understood your points.
by WelbyQuentin on November 4th, 2009
I didn't think you were being argumentative at all. Just stating an opinion as was I.
There are certain things that fire people up in life. I respect people who fight for certain things and have that passion within them.
My tolerance level is pretty high when it comes to idiots. Though occasionally, I will get fired up over something that really bothers me.
BUT, you must pick and choose your battles. For me, if I saw that avatar I would think how incredibly ignorant that person was and I would most likely avoid their activity on AB, but I wouldn't go out of my way to create a topic about it or argue with everybody who doesn't agree (like the poster of the topic did).
Bottom line, you can't change everyone's mentality level to fit your own. Everybody was raised differently. Everybody has different opinions. Because of this, I usually don't worry about anyone else's ignorance. It's a waste of time. Especially people on AB. The majority on this site are idiots so why let them get under

your skin.
By disagreeing with the poster, it was not because I think the avatar is okay or acceptable. I didn't even argue the freedom of speech point. And I am bi-sexual so I could have easily been offended.
I simply just didn't care enough. I want people to shed their stupidity around me so I know who to stay away from. Plus, I am pretty unoffendable. If you don't let the ignorant, stupid bastards get under your skin, then you can focus your time and energy on things that are REALLY worth fighting for. Like I said, you must pick and choose your battles.
To be honest, I don't think he hates gay people...I think he just wanted to piss people off. He succeeded and I won't give him the pleasure of pissing me off. That's kind of where I was coming from. Hope this all makes sense.
By the way, I know we're all sensitive towards certain things.
I for one am a really sensitive and emotional person. Being that way exhibits strength so I wouldn't be ashamed. It means you have a heart.

It means you're human.
That's a good thing. I very good thing. :)

Exactly! Thank you for all your words here and your time. I thought and do think all of those things. My counselor would be thanking you, too. You said it all much better than I. Believe it or not, I've come a long way in not empowering other people and events with such power over my head, it's just the present challenging moment finds me unsuccessful [ at least, what I see unsuccessful for me; and being too hard on myself so much of the time is my worst enemy ]. Thanks again.

No problem. Anytime.
I understand where you're coming from. We all battle unhealthy and/or unwanted emotions.
It's human nature.
Take care.
