Why have the Republicans won both the Virginia and New Jersey Governors races in 2009?

    That will be a question answered by the data to follow in the next couple of days.

    One thing has to be pointed out. These were regional elections that hinged on regional issues not national ones.

    In Virginia, the 2 main contestants have run against each other before. This was not a new match up.

    New Jersey is a state hit hard by the recession. It could be that people were voting with their pocketbooks.
