The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, today announced they have recalled goaltender Cory Schneider from the Moose.

Schneider, 23, has played in nine games so far this season with the Moose and holds a 6-3-0 record, 2.41 goals against average, and 0.910 save percentage. By stopping 24 shots and earning a 1-0 shootout victory on Oct. 23/09 @ Chicago he earned his first shutout of the season and ninth in his AHL career.

Last season, the Marblehead MA native appeared in 40 games with the Moose to finish the season with an impressive 28-10-1 record, 2.04 goals against average and 0.928 save percentage. He established three franchise records with the longest winning streak for a goaltender (10 games), the most wins in a single season by any Moose netminder (28 games) and goals against average (2.04). Schneider was subsequently named the winner of the 2009 Aldedge “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL’s Most Outstanding goaltender.

Schneider earned his first recall with the Canucks last season where he appeared in eight games with a 2-4-1 record. He was originally drafted by Vancouver in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
