The female depiction in ancient texts is how it was in those times...not meant to be demeaning but the womans place was in the home doing the homely chores while the man was in the fields tending to the flocks where it was a little dangerous for the woman to be...and much of the older beliefs of how woman should be are still in place in these same countrys even today such as the Muslim beliefs
