Share bathwater. Keep grain products so long we had to pick things out. Eat fish, nuts and berries we could catch or pick up. Never fill up the car with gas. Hand me down clothes. Off brand clothes. Limited eating out-if course in those days there wasn't much choice. We were well edcuated people in a small city. Father was a college professor. We never wanted but the folks were close enough to the depression where frugality was something we lived with.
