The term “hard drug” is generally used to describe those drugs that are highly addictive (i.e. you can be hooked after only a few uses). Alcohol is addictive, but not highly addictive.

You're reading Alcohol is a hard drug! Why wouldn´t it be?

natural psychotrope drugs aren´t addictive but they are still called harddrugs. Sugar and cacao (just like tobacco) are considered to be highly addictive but they aren´t even drugs. Don´t wanna piss you off but the laws these days are different from your beliefs

Sugar and cacao are not drugs, which is why they are not labeled as hard DRUGS. And what non-addictive drugs do you claim are classified as "hard"?

DMT, psycolobine, harmaline, tryptomine, tryptofaan. all shit our body makes (instead of cafeine and sugar) but are highly illegal

sugar and cafeine are highly addictive and have quite the effect on our well-being

And who do you claim labels these as "hard drugs"?
by OhLook - IamNoLongerAnonymous on October 15th, 2009
for their addictive tendencies and the fact that sugar and cacao can change your look at reality.

Sorry I gotta buzz in here.
Alcohol by many people is considered a drug. It is highly addictive OR....ther wouldnt be so many people dying and addicted to it. Infact alcohol kills more people and has more people addicted to it than all other drugs in the world combined at the same time....compared to alcohol. FACT.
But I just really wanted to state to nozferatu...that MDMA was designed in labs as a depression medication BUT...it worked to good and too many people "thought" so they didnt pass it as becoming an actual anti depressant...

Schmee: Nobody here is denying that alcohol is a drug. However, it is not highly addictive. In fact, of addictive recerational drugs, alcohol is the least addictive. Your argument that alcohol has more people addicted to it than any other drugs is accurate, but you are relying on faulty logic. More people are addicted to alcohol because far more people use aclohol. As a percentage of users, it has the least number of addicts of all recerational drugs.
