Myself and several other salaried employees are forced to be on-call 24/7 all year long, with no extra pay. Is this legal?

    It depends on how short a "leash" you are under. If you are, for example, a paramedic, and have to be within minutes of your truck, then you must be paid the on-call time.

    If your "leash" is longer, over 30 minutes as a rule of thumb, then you are only entitled to be paid for the time you actually spend working after being called, but not for the time spent on-call only without other work.
