Its true that some Irish Americans funded the IRA,and it was called Noraid. The big fund raising events used to take place on the top floor of one of the twin towers in Manhattan.
Colonel Gadhaffi of Libya trained IRA members to become explosive experts on how to make bombs. They supplied them with guns ammunition and semtex explosives which they paid for with the donations from America.
The IRA also trained in Beirut in the Lebanon with Hezbollah terrorists. When you donate money to terrorist organisations no matter how good you think that cause may be, you end up with blood on your hands, like the thousands of Irish civilians including men, women, children and babies who were blown up by their bombs. Those who made donations at the fund raising functions should take note and think twice before throwing money into a bucket ever again.
Before you start saying the IRA didn’t train with other terrorist organisations you must first get the facts before you say otherwise.

You're reading Some American's used to Fund the IRA to Kick we, Brits out of Northern Ireland - how do you alll feel now that the IRA are more or less allies with those responsible for 9/11?
Comments
That they trained in Lebanon I for example did not know.
Here in Germany we only heard very little about Northern Ireland and most people here know very few about it.
But very well known and widely published is the "Bloody Sunday" and most people first think of that "bloody Sunday" which was often documented by the German TV and therefore is well known.

Bloody Sunday was bad and the Parachute Regigiment lost the plot that day.The recent troubles in Northern Ireland was a terrible thing to watch, and all it acheived was a terrible loss of civilian life. The sad thing is it will start all over again and the youths over there are already starting to cause disturbances.

Why should they change? You know how long bias and hostilities can last.
Usually they will never end as long as there is first an action and then a reaction.
So, if it does not even work in Northern Ireland where people have the same language and culture, how should it work in Europe with different languages and different cultural backgrounds? So Northern Ireland is for me the very best example that Europe among certain countries never will work.
So, I am rather glad and content that my country and the French found a way to overcome the worst bias and I was often and long enough in the German-French brigade to see that it can work very fine if people on both sides have the will that it works.
So young people find out by their own experience that both cultures have their advantages.
