Why do drivers of 18 wheeler trucks keep the engines going all the time, even at freeway rest stops when they (the drivers) seem to be sleeping? Are the trucks really hard to start?

    Mostly to run heat or ac for comfort. If the driver does not own the truck he may not care about the idle time or fuel costs.
