American here. In Torchwood they speak of distances in miles. Is this a Welsh thing or do many Brits says miles instead of km's? And do any Brits talk about their height/weight in feet/pounds?

Yes us Brits use Miles to measure distance.

The other measurements are split between Metric and Imperial measurement system, usually dependent on how old you are, older people tend to talk in pounds, pints, ounzes etc, whereas us young uns, will only use Pints - for going down the pub and wanting a pint of lager, or inches for other measurements lol. But also talk in centimetres, metres, Kilogrammes, litres from the Metric system, as that is what we where taught in school.

    • we're taught metric in school too but it never goes anywhere! except for the litre bottle

and people will often use centimetres to describe something that's closer to an even # of cm than inches.
