How do I fade my drawings to a 3-D effect and give them more detail?

    Use cross hatching. Draw lines in one direction, then over the top draw them in another direction and so on, where you want it to be lighter only do one or two layers of hatching. I prefer to scribble, i scribble lightly over most of the object ot be shaded and increase the amount or scribble and the pencil pressure in areas I want darker.
