I received an email from my Norwich and Peterborough Netmaster Gold account, which only said "A new payment mandate is available on your account". What does this mean?

It could mean a new payment method is available. I would not take any action until I have called my bank on a land line. There's alot of phishing going on today. If you log into your account, that may be all it takes and your id and account will be compromised.
