Help answer this question below.

After moving into formation for a shotgun play, is the quarterback required to do anything in particular before the ball is hiked to him?

    He/she isn't required to do anything but the majority of football QB's will say set and will lift their left leg up so that if the center did not hear him call "set", he will see that the QB lifted his leg and will be ready to hike the ball.
