Is it fair for women to demand equal treatment, yet still expect chivalry?

    Why not? many women defer to men all the time politely as well.
    In fact, there's kind of a nice club of us who still observe the niceties, it's not a gender thing, it only becomes an issue when one side finds "sexist" reasons not to be polite.
    Oh, and this "club" cuts across socio-economic and educational stratas; I guess it's just people mature enough to chill out and be nice! ++++
