What is the significance of genuflecting on your right knee in the Catholic Faith?

    A sign of respect - a bowing down, a humbling of one self.

    • Thanks for the answer dumdum. I understand that it is a show of respect, but was wandering about the significance of placing the right knee on the floor rather than the left?

    • Guess and this is all that is - the church refers to Jesus as being at the right hand of God and there are other references to to this as well as throughout our history as in left handed people were often looked down upon. My forth grade teacher tried to get me to change to my right hand to write sometimes by whacking my hand with a map pointer.
