Why is it incorrect to say that iron is heavier than water, but it is incorrect to say that iron is more dense that water.

    because iron is a solid, the atoms are rigid and have a set amount of space between them, as with liquids, they can move freely within a confined space, oh, and there are more atoms per molecule in water then there are iron
