Last weekend, my girlfriend said "Its a goddam good thing I love you so much, because you can be very annoying". Is that a contradiction?

It's not a contradiction. She is telling you that even though she loves you, you are a pain-in-the-ass sometimes...(excuse me).

I tell this to my bf as well when I am mad with him.
