No, you totally can. I wasn't offended (I actually rated you up b/c of the whole asking for points thing got you dinged down a few). But for the most part people get annoyed when you answer your own question. The best way to get points on this site is to ask funny, or a really deep question (People on this site don't really like George Bush...hint hint) Good luck!
