    Amphibians are cold-blooded, smooth-skinned vertebrates of the class Amphibia, such as frogs or salamanders. Typically living on land but breeding in water, they hatch as aquatic larvae with gills and undergo metamorphosis into an adult form with air-breathing lungs.

    More generally, an amphibian is any animal capable of living both on land and in water.

    • Hippo's are not amphibians they are semi-aquatic ,and they live on land ,and water . Refering to the general term
