The shot is supposed to be given in the buttock. The reason for this is: you have more muscles in your butt than anywhere else on your body, so its more fast-acting that way.
Its strongly suggested to have a nurse inject you, but you can do it yourself.
As for technique...I don't know what the OTHER user was going on about....but there isn't a technique, you just stick it in and inject...its really not rocket science... o.O
If you do it yourself: inject in the upper region of your buttock, but not the actual back area. Give a couple inches below the back area.
AGAIN, it is strongly suggested you consult your doctor or a nurse before you give yourself the shot.

I started the depo shot 1 week ago and they told me that I had to wait 24-48 hours before having unprotected sex.
