In Barbara Tuchman's book, The Guns of August, she decribes a funeral in the first chapter. For what is the funeral and/or death a metaphor?

    The funeral is for Queen Victoria. This was the last time that so many of the monarchs of Europe (many of whom were related through blood or marriage) came together at one time at one place.

    Tuchman also points out that many of the problems that led up to the start of World War I were perceived as the biggest family dispute of all time.

    • Incorrect. The funeral was for Edward VII. Somewhat helpful though.
