Today's so-called democracies make a mockery of the meaning of the word, "Democracy," virtually always creating results diametrically opposite the will of the governed and perpetually plummeting them into further debt.

That strikes me as baloney. Seems to me the problem is far more simple and needs no conspiracy theories to explain. Voters keep voting to get more and pay less.
