Why do people always say that God is a guy? What if God is a girl?

Well in most Christian sects, God is a man because that's the way the Bible refers to Him.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that *HE* gave *HIS* only begotten *SON*(jesus) that whosoever believes on *HIM* should not perish but have everlasting life.

You can see that the bible does not say that "She gave her only daughter.. etc."

This is the simplest answer I could come up with from that point of view. Hope it clears some things up.

In every instance in the scriptures where a pronoun is used to refer to God, it is the masculine pronoun that is used.
