Could it be that they stated you really needed it but did not mean that you had to buy it from them. I bought a laptop also at best buy but they did not suggest I buy the restore disc from them. When I turned my computer on, it gave me the option to make the restore disc. I did. If it does not give you the option, you can always go and make the disc from the restore icon. If you feel they mislead you, go back and talk to the manager and state that you feel it is deceptive business practice. Tell him you feel you were mislead by employee insinuating you really needed the disc. May they return your money and you make the restore disc. Whatever you do,keep in mind that you do really need the restore disc. The disc or cd are no longer included with the computer like they used to include them sometime back.

    • i think thats what im going to do, they did make the restore disk, but paying $70 for something i know i could have done at home, easily. i was under the influence that is was something you could do on your own, and that it either came with the computer or it didn't

    • Mine came with it and prompt me to make when I turned it on for first time. Just go to the help and support of windows in the press startup and then help and support and key index. It should walk you thru backup and making the restore disc. You can also contact bestbuy at the 1800 and talk to a rep.
