Help answer this question below.

When did the symbol for the American dollar ($) lose its 2nd bar? The symbol was always TWO vertical bars thru an "S". Now its only ONE bar or sometimes just a "bump" on the top and bottom of the "S".

    It's still there. Whether you see it frequently or not just depends which fonts are in fashion.
