    No.

The "eyes-will-stayed-crossed" crap is what I suppose could be considered an "Old Wive's Tale" (not to be confused with an old wife's tail which is nasty looking and very large).

This has no scientific base. Its origin is most likely Nazi mothers who wanted to dull their children's humor and creativity processes. Or simeply mom's who wanted their kids to be polite, but that reasoning isn't as humorous or extreme so I'll discard it. Also, crossing your eyes is dizzying, and its permanence seems like a believable concept, I suppose.

Your eyes have veins and tissue that help them go back to their original operating position. For you to have a permanently "crossed" eye you'd need to have a birth defect or some type of tissue damage happen undeneath your eyball. So unless you fall asleep with your eyes resting directly on roofing nails, don't worry too much.

But nope, total poopie. Yay! Cross those eyes all day (and night if you are heading to bed) and if they stay that way you can sue me for false information (not really a sueable offense). But please don't. Sue me, that is.

    • i think he/she means they get double vision when they get tired. i would definitely have your eyes checked.sometimes doublevision could mean an underlying problem. or it could be nothing, i get it when i have panic attacks.hope this helps!!!
