From my travels to the land of the Swiss, I remember being told you could call Switzerland a Federal Republic.

They call themselves (in governmental-speak) The Swiss Confederation. That is, mainly I'd suppose, because they used to be a confederation. Their restructure, and constitutional reforendum, happened just recently. I was there last year and they were still adjusting to differences that were passed into law in... 1999? Or maybe 2000.

They have the same 3 branches we have and a legal (at least civil law) system based on fundamentals similar to England's.

    • Oh... my... God you are in fact a moron. I told you in my answer I went to Switzerland. I also told you, "I was told". If you want me to be more specific, it was a tour guide that told me about Swiss government. Meh...
