What system are you using? Usually the resolution is set in xorg.conf and doesn't change automatically by itself.

    • I removed all the resolutions from xorg.conf except for the one I am using, with no difference. I am using Ubuntu Jaunty and installed xfce via apt.

    • Hmmm. I'm not using xfce but in Gnome Ubuntu the xorg.conf is kept almost empty and then it adjusts the resolution and screens and stuff on login.
      .
Could you try to reconfigure X with the default resolution you want?
      sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

    • That worked out great! I had to manually add my resolution to xorg.conf again, but it sure works. Thanks.
